Photostory: China's Wild West

I watched a photostory named "China's Wild West" online. The narrator is an American, and he talks about some places in west China which are very poor. He mentions two important people who are taiwanese, and transform some hi-tech to the poor district. They have a plan named West China Story, which ia s quiet tough project to make west China reacher.

This photostory has lots of pictures, and the narrator's words are very clear. In a word, it's a good photostory. You can really see the condition of west China. 18 students live in a same dormitory. They have no Internet, etc. Every picture is vivid.

In my opinion, there are a big gap in different cities. For example, Beijing can hold an Olympic Games, but in some part of China, Internet is a luxury thing. We really need to solve this problem as soon as possible.

Human Deaths from Animal Diseases on the Rise

I read an article named "Human Deaths from Animal Diseases on the Rise" online. According to this article, 50 million people caught diseases from animals from 2000 to 2005, and 78,000 of them died. It means more and more people's health are effected by animals...

The article also points out that some diseases such as bird flu not only can transmit from animals but also from human to human. So, scientists and doctors are trying to find some ways to deal with the problem. Vaccine is a good way to avoid it.

From my view, animals are good friends to human. Lots of people have pets in their home. We have to care about diseases from animals in order to be healthy.

Health research:Deadly New Virus Thought to Be Contained

In this week, I found a news from The York Times online named "Deadly New Virus Thought to be Contained". It mentions that a new kind of virus was discovered in South Africa, which can cause a serious fever and finally dead. Four people were killed by this unaccureable disease. The news also points out that this kind of virus was first found in animals, just like SARS, but we don't know how the first person was infected.

From my point of view, the government in South Africa must solve this problem as soon as possible, and prevent effecting to other places. I still can remember the situation in SARS, 2003. It was very terrible, and I hope this kind of things will not happen again.

Obama's grandmother dies of cancer in Hawaii

I read an article named "Obama's grandmother dies of cancer in Hawaii" in Yahoo News this week. It is related health toipc.

In the article, the author says that the Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama's grandmother died in Hawaii because of a cancer. He also points out that his grandmother helped him a lot in his whole life, and it was very pity that she died before the final eletion day.

From my point of view, it was a absolutely bad news for Obama, especially before the election day. so, protecting our bodies is really important. We cannot predict what will hapen in next second.

As People Age, the Thrill Is (Almost) Gone

In this weekend, I have read a news named "As People Age, the Thrill Is (Almost) Gone " on The New York Times. Scientists find some old people and young people to do an experiment. They found that three parts of a reward center in the brain lighted up in the younger group, but only one in the older group if there are some excited things happen. The main difference is in the response of the brain to dopamine, it is a naturally chemical messenger that plays a central role in the reward system.

From my view point, except the reason that the article mentioned, another reason is that old people have exprienced so many things. Most of them are not unusual to old people, so they would not feel excited. Is that right?

The topic of this article is health. Why I enjoy this topic? To be honest, it is because this kind of articles are easy to understand and shorter than others... In addition, others such as politics or business are time-dependent, but for health, you have to care about it through your whole life.

The Story of Stuff

I just see the vedio named "The Story of Stuff" from the Internet, which is a homewok of Media class. That is an interesting vedio, I think.

In this vedio, a woman talks about a system which contains five step that related to the enviornment : extraction, production, distribution, consumption and disposal. First, it is extraction. It is means that America use too many resouces all over the world. Second, it's production, we use energy to products, and most of them are wasted. Third, she talks about distribution. We usually can get a product cheaper than it really worth, because companies use some bad way to make the product cheap. For example, give workers a little money or cut their insurance, etc. It's means that we are destroying ourself. Finally, the vedio is about disposal. People buy many new things every day so that they will have lots of trash every day. To make trash disappear, we will make our environment bad, Even though the rececling is not enough. The conclusion is that we cannot go on this system. We have to protect our world, and do something to improve that bad situation. For example, zero wast, or whatever...

From my view point, though it's a serious problem happen in America, this problem is not only appear in USA, we also have this thing in some other countries. In other words, protecting our world is everyone's responsibility.

If I have chance, I would like to introduce this vedio to my friend, and ask them to protect our enviroment from now on~~~

A blog entry named "Tulips"

This weekend I read a blog entry named "Tulips" by Jeff Scher on the website of The New York Times. The aiticle talks about kiss~~~Scher argues that kiss is a wonderful thing in his life, and almost everybody likes it. He also points out that a lot of movie about kiss always come out when Valentine's day is coming...There also has a link about a movie named The kiss on the end of the bolg entry.
Why I choose this aiticle? because there has a beautiful picture shows before the content really attract me: two people are kissing, and maybe is a comic. From my view point, I agree with the author's view. In other words, I think kiss is a good thing, aha~~~and most of the comments agree with Scher.
My question is that some of the comments shows that Kiss is good for our health~~why?
